Bring a championship atmosphere into your living room - new multimedia systems 14.07.2008
(djd) The European Football Championship draws on apace, and football fans are gearing up for the big event with the right equipment. Those who weren't able to get hold of one of the highly sought-after tickets can now bring the stadium experience into their own four walls as if it were the "real thing". Modern home-entertainment technology with giant flat screens or video projectors virtually transport the fans into the middle of the action and make themselves pleasantly flat and small as they share in the excitement at home.
It's just a pity that complex Dolby Surround equipment is usually quite big. And rearranging sound and picture when you want to hold a public viewing with kindred spirits in a beer garden, for example, usually requires a fair amount of time and effort. Rich sound directly out of the wall: A flat sound system called purSonic makes itself so slim that it simply disappears into the walls. The so-called Soundboards, which received the Innovation Award of the German state of Baden-Württemberg a couple of years ago, are only 7 mm thick. Developed by puren, a company based in the South-West of Germany, the system convinces with a rich sonority that does not have to hide behind expensive loudspeakers of a conventional design (info: www.pursonic.de). The boards generate bending waves which permeate the whole room more uniformly than does the linear spread of sound from standard loudspeakers. Even in rooms with a difficult architectural layout they create an expansive three-dimensional richness of sound. The boards can be installed flush with the wall so they disappear. Their surface can be designed to match the rest of the wall without losing their sound, for example with fine plasters, wallpapers, veneers, metal and plastic surfaces, paint, textiles and even mirrors.
"Public Viewing" with plug-and-play
Those who want to enjoy the European Championships with friends down at their local pub should draw the landlord's attention to a new solution for "Public Viewing": With the purMedia system it is no longer necessary to spend a lot of time clearing away, setting up and tuning. Video projectors and screens are securely mounted on a sturdy mobile cabinet (info: www.purmedia.net). The whole point is that the purSonic Soundboard is the screen - there is no need for additional loudspeakers. The system has already proved a success in conference hotels, conference halls and at events. In this case, plug-and-play means: put the plug in the socket and off you go. Football fun can now be shared anywhere there is a socket.
